Air seal your home with low-VOC sealant – HHWG

Air seal your home with low-VOC sealant

air sealing 2

  • Why is this important?

  • Your home is constantly breathing. When windows and doors are closed, the air it breathes comes from the crawlspace and attic, carrying whatever pollutants are there. We want to control how air is exchanged in a home. By sealing your attic, crawlspace, basement, and garage we prevent pollution from coming into our living room. It is a critical first step for your home to breathe clean air. However, air sealing and a ventilation system should go hand-in-hand. Sealing will prevent pollution from coming in and going out. By coupling air sealing with a ventilator you will keep out pollution while bringing in filtered air. This effectively controls what your home, and you, breathe.

  • What should I do?

  • Contractors who are familiar with how air flows in and out of homes are best suited for this job. Request Greenguard Gold certified foam sealants as they have the lowest VOCs available.

Air sealing is more effectively done when no insulation is present, so depending on the state of your insulation you may receive a quote for both from a contractor.
